Paper Garden Records recording artists The Storm Windows today release a new single from their forthcoming LIVE album: "There's a Reason for Saturday Nights." The track was recorded live before an enthusiastic audience at Tank Studio in Burlington, Vermont on November 1, 2025. The Storm Windows, known as purveyors (some say inventors) of "Power-Folk," have been described by Spin Magazine as the "Folk Ramones." Performing on the recording are the Storm Windows Trio: Rob Mathews on guitar and vocals, Don Mathews on upright bass and vocals, and Erik Anderson on drums.
The single is being released on the PGRoots label of Paper Garden Records and will be followed by the release of a full album, including on vinyl for those attending live shows this summer. Audio for the track was produced and mixed by Ben Collett and Julia Rangel at Tank Recording Studios. As of today, links to the single are available on social media platforms, and a pre-stream link is available at https://s.disco.ac/jhzdqpunzniw.
This release is significant as it marks the first release on the PGRoots label and portends the upcoming full live album to be released on August 21. The Storm Windows play both showcases and bar gigs, taking their name from a song title by John Prine, reflecting their resilience as veteran musicians. Critics have labeled their music "New Americana – a blend of folk, rock and even jazz laced sonics." Fans can check the band's website at thestormwindows.com for upcoming tour dates.
