PFISTERER is expanding its U.S. production capacity with a $2.7 million investment in three additional CNC lathes, tooling, and related equipment at its Rochester, New York, facility. The move will increase production capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components by two and a half times, positioning the plant as a central hub in PFISTERER's global production network and strengthening the company's delivery capacity, flexibility, and resilience in North America.
The investment comes as more than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold in the United States. By manufacturing directly in the U.S. rather than importing from Germany, PFISTERER is advancing its "Local-for-Local" approach, which shortens delivery times, improves responsiveness to customer needs, and reduces transportation-related emissions. This strategy is particularly important given the rapid expansion of data centers in the U.S. and globally, which is driving demand for reliable power connections.
SICON is PFISTERER's shearbolt cable connection system designed for secure electrical and mechanical connections. It can be used with a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections, and is electrically and mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A. It has also been tested in accordance with the North American standard ANSI C119.4 and is the only connector that meets the Class 2 requirements of this standard. These certifications make SICON connectors relevant for the expansion of power infrastructure and, in particular, for the power supply of data centers, which require high-performance and exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid.
"With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market. We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site," said Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE.
The expansion underscores the importance of local production in meeting the surging demand for critical digital infrastructure components. As data centers proliferate, the need for secure and scalable power connections becomes paramount. PFISTERER's investment ensures that U.S. customers can rely on domestically produced SICON connectors, reducing lead times and enhancing supply chain resilience. The Rochester facility will thus play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of the North American market and the broader digital economy.
