The release of DownTown Mystic's 'On E Street Remix' EP on April 3 represents a significant moment in rock history, featuring the rare collaboration of Bruce Springsteen's legendary E Street Band rhythm section—drummer 'Mighty' Max Weinberg and bassist Garry Tallent—recording together for another artist. Both Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, Weinberg and Tallent provide the foundation for all six tracks on the EP, a notable occurrence outside their extensive work with Springsteen. Recorded during the same period the musicians were shaping Springsteen's landmark 'Born in the USA' album, the EP carries historical weight that extends beyond the music itself, offering a snapshot of a pivotal era in rock.
DownTown Mystic writer/producer Robert Allen explains that working with these musicians fundamentally transformed his artistic development. "I was trying to develop as a solo artist when we made these recordings," Allen recalls. "The experience of playing with Max & Garry changed everything for me." The EP includes tracks such as the thought-provoking 'Way To Know,' the emotionally intense 'And You Know Why,' and the lead single 'Hard Enough,' which has already received substantial airplay on Worldwide Radio. The 'Hard Enough' video has surpassed 550,000 views on https://www.youtube.com. Also featured is the explosive 'Sometimes Wrong,' remastered by Leon Zervos, known for work with Pink and Crowded House, and the brand new instrumental 'And You Know Why (TV Mix).'
This release continues DownTown Mystic's creative momentum, building on the success of 2023's 'AmeriKarma' album, which attracted over 3 million streams. Subsequent releases like 'RnR 4 The Soul' (2024), 'The Wish' (2025), and 'Mystic Highway' (2025) have further established the artist's "vintage yet modern" approach to rock'n'roll. The artist's sync-licensing success has been particularly notable, with 'Way To Know' launching a career that has placed music in over 250 TV shows, beginning with 'The Voice.' This success reached a high point in 2025 with three songs placed in two major films: 'Sovereign' and 'Everything's Going To Be Great.'
The EP will be distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music and promoted at Non-Com/College Radio by Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music beginning April 7. Allen's main goal for the project was to give the tracks a fresh sound while showcasing the brilliance of the two E Street musicians. "If you want to make a rock'n'roll statement then who better to do it with?" Allen notes. "I think E Street is probably the most famous street in rock'n'roll history." Critical reception has been positive, with outlets like Stereo Stickman and College Radio Charts praising the EP's authenticity and relevance, highlighting DownTown Mystic's ability to blend historical rock influences with contemporary energy.
